Eyebrows have become one of the most experimental areas in modern beauty. A quick scroll through social media reveals everything from fishtail brows to Nike swooshes and even unicorn-inspired designs.
Just when it seemed there was nothing left to reinvent, a new and unexpected trend made its debut: halo brows.
As with many unconventional beauty fads, halo brows emerged from the creative chaos of social media. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram continue to push the boundaries of traditional beauty, giving rise to trends that are equal parts artistic and controversial.
The halo brow look features a curved arc drawn across the forehead, connecting both eyebrows into a single loop. The concept was created by Hannah Lyne, a 16-year-old British-born influencer, whose original sketch quickly went viral.
“So me and [a friend] were talking about the fishtail brow trend & then we came up with this,” Lyne wrote in the Instagram caption that introduced the look—leaving viewers both intrigued and baffled.
In an interview with PopSugar, Lyne explained that the trend was no joke and that it was directly inspired by fishtail brows.
“I was having a conversation with a friend trying to come up with a new idea for a look, and all of a sudden it came to me that I should connect my brow tails,” she said.
Speaking further with Yahoo Style, Lyne shared her broader goal: “I just want people to embrace being silly and doing weird, creative looks!”
A ‘ridiculous’ fad?
As expected, the halo brow trend sparked strong and divided reactions online.
Some Instagram users applauded Lyne’s creativity, flooding the comments with praise. “I love it!” wrote one follower, while another added, “All of your looks are so original—honestly, your talent is endless!” A third commented, “How do you even come up with these ideas? You’re incredibly creative and execute them so well.”
Others, however, were far less impressed. Many dismissed the look as “ridiculous,” with one user writing, “Vomits uncontrollably.” Another questioned, “I can’t tell if she’s joking,” while someone else joked, “Instagram? More like Instaregret.”
Some critics went as far as saying the look made Lyne appear “ridiculous,” with others claiming the photo made them want to delete Instagram altogether.
Despite the backlash, Cosmopolitan offered a more favorable take, describing the “heavenly halo brows” as “strangely beautiful.”

“Prepare to meet the unconventional, yet gorgeous work of arch,” the publication wrote, praising the bold and artistic nature of the design.
Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that makeup artists continue to find inventive ways to reinvent eyebrows—whether they prefer having one or two.
