Eleanor's wedding to George was like something straight out of a movie. The venue, her dress, and the reception were all flawless. It was a day more perfect than she had ever dreamed of.
From the moment she laid eyes on George, she knew he was the one. It wasn’t long before he proposed, and she accepted with an enthusiastic “yes.”
Although Eleanor felt George had rushed their relationship, she believed he did so out of love, just as she loved him.
After the wedding, Eleanor moved into George's family home. It was a grand mansion where he lived with his parents and younger siblings, surrounded by beautiful rooms and a sprawling garden full of flowers.
Everything seemed wonderful.

On her first morning in the house, Eleanor decided to wake up early and make breakfast for the family. She went to the kitchen and asked Tina, the maid, for help gathering the ingredients. But Tina didn’t seem friendly. She handed Eleanor some eggs and impatiently told her to hurry, as the family wanted their meal ready when they came downstairs.
Tina's cold stare made Eleanor uncomfortable. It was clear she didn’t like her, but Eleanor chose to ignore it. After all, this was her new home now.
At one point, Eleanor reached for her phone, but it wasn’t on the counter where she had left it. When she asked Tina if she had seen it, Tina denied it and quickly left the kitchen.

Eleanor found Tina’s behavior odd, and even more so when she spotted her phone on the stool where Tina had been sitting. Picking it up, she noticed a text message on the screen: “Check your husband’s drawer. The top left one, specifically. Then RUN!”
Her heart raced. Was George hiding something from her?
Initially, Eleanor brushed off the message and continued with breakfast preparations. But after the family gathered and began eating, curiosity got the better of her. She went upstairs and opened the drawer. Inside, she found a stack of letters—all written by George to someone named Elena.
It was clear from the letters that George had been deeply in love with this woman. Even stranger, the last letter was dated shortly after George and Eleanor had started dating. Beneath the letters, there was an ultrasound image. Was Elena pregnant with George’s child?
Eleanor felt a whirlwind of emotions. As she tried to make sense of everything, she heard Tina’s voice behind her.
“Eleanor, you deserve to know the truth,” Tina said softly. “Elena is my sister. She and George met two years ago, back when we were both hired to clean this house.”
George had fallen in love with Elena, and they had begun a relationship. He had planned to marry her and build a life together, but things changed when he learned their unborn child had Down Syndrome. After that, George cut ties with her.

Elena had never wanted anything from George; she only wanted Eleanor to know the truth about the kind of man he was. That’s why she asked Tina to give Eleanor the letters.
Shattered and heartbroken, Eleanor went to the kitchen and told George’s parents about the child he had abandoned. She asked them if they knew they had a grandchild.
George’s parents were stunned. They had no idea about the relationship, let alone a child with Down Syndrome. Overwhelmed by this revelation, they needed time to process their son’s actions and his decision to abandon both Elena and their grandchild.
The next day, Eleanor moved in with her sister. Over the following weeks, George’s parents decided to disown him. They reached out to Elena and met their grandson for the first time. What’s more, they redirected George’s inheritance to support Elena and her child, cutting him off financially.
Eleanor divorced George and was also given assets by her former in-laws. She sold most of them and bought a small apartment. With the remaining funds, she started a foundation for children with Down Syndrome, and she put Tina in charge of it.
