Netflix Star Tragically Dies At 41

Julián Ortega, the well-known actor from the Netflix series Elite, has passed away at the age of 41 after reportedly collapsing on a beach in Spain earlier this week.

His unexpected death was confirmed by Spain’s national union of actors and actresses.

“Actor Julián Ortega dies at the age of 41. Rest in peace. From the Union of Actors and Actresses, we offer our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,” the official statement read.

Ortega suffered cardiac arrest, prompting beachgoers to alert emergency services immediately. Paramedics worked for 30 minutes to resuscitate him but were ultimately unsuccessful.

The incident occurred near a beach bar on Zahora Beach in Barbate, located southwest of Marbella, Spain.

According to his obituary, Ortega was a graduate of Madrid’s prestigious Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático. He was featured in six episodes of Elite, where he played the manager of La Cabaña, a beer and burger joint. His career also included roles in popular shows such as Caronte, Velvet, Cable Girls, and the miniseries Untameable, as well as the 2018 romantic comedy My Love Lost, among others.

Colleagues and friends from the entertainment industry shared heartfelt tributes following the tragic news.

Paco Collado, his co-star from El Pueblo, expressed his sorrow: “It was a great pleasure, @julianortega_7, to play your father in @elpuebloserie. You left us with your kindness, generosity, and professionalism. Many hugs, my friend, and to your family as well. It's a real loss in the prime of your life. Rest in peace, Julián.”

Actress Sílvia Marsó also paid tribute: “Today, the industry loses an extraordinary colleague, a remarkable actor, and an unforgettable human being. A big hug to your parents, Gloria Muñoz and José Antonio Ortega, and to all your family, friends, and colleagues. You will always be in our hearts, dear Julián.”
