The rumors of trouble in paradise have proven true, as singer and actress Jennifer Lopez officially filed for divorce from husband Ben Affleck on their second wedding anniversary, August 20. According to TMZ, Lopez submitted the legal documents herself on Tuesday in L.A. County Superior Court, without the representation of an attorney.
The couple's separation date was listed as April 26, 2024.
TMZ also reported that there was no prenuptial agreement, meaning all assets and income accumulated during their two-year marriage are considered community property. During their time together, Affleck starred in Air and Hypnotic and produced The Instigators, among other projects. Lopez, on the other hand, appeared in Shotgun Wedding, The Mother, This Is Me … Now, and Atlas.

The divorce documents reveal that Lopez is not seeking financial support from Affleck and has requested the judge to deny any spousal support for him as well.
However, this doesn’t imply that the financial aspects of their separation have been fully settled. According to TMZ, discussions on these matters are ongoing.

Earlier this year, Affleck reportedly moved out of the couple’s Beverly Hills mansion, although neither he nor Lopez has publicly addressed this. When asked about the rumors of their relationship's struggles during a press conference in Mexico for her Netflix film Atlas in May, Lopez responded, “You know better than that.”

Lopez and Affleck had tied the knot in July 2022 after rekindling their engagement. Since then, their relationship has remained under public scrutiny, especially after Lopez acknowledged that their previous relationship had “crumbled under the pressure.”
