Most of us have probably left our wallet or credit card at home once or twice—but if it keeps happening, something feels off.
One woman recently turned to Reddit for advice after she refused to pay for her boyfriend and his children’s meal for what seemed like the hundredth time. The reason? He “forgot” his wallet—again.
She explained that she had been dating her boyfriend for nine months. He had two daughters from a previous relationship, and dining out together had become a weekly ritual. The problem was that every single time, he conveniently left his wallet behind, leaving her stuck with the bill.

Before their latest dinner out, she even texted him a reminder to bring his wallet. He brushed it off with a laugh. Once seated at the restaurant, his daughters immediately began ordering the most expensive items on the menu. Before they started eating, she asked him directly if he had his wallet. Looking surprised, he patted his pockets and finally admitted, “Guess I left it in the jeans I didn’t wear.” As usual, he asked her to cover the bill “just this time.”
But this time, she had had enough. She picked up her bag, stood up, and told him she wasn’t paying again. When he asked where she was going, she told him to enjoy dinner with his kids—without her.

Later, he called her, furious. He accused her of having “no sympathy” for his daughters and claimed he had to cancel their order and take them home hungry. He then turned the blame on her, saying she was being selfish and cruel to his children.
“I just couldn’t take it anymore,” she wrote in her post, asking other Redditors if she had gone too far.
The response was overwhelmingly in her favor. Many agreed that his repeated “forgetfulness” was intentional and manipulative.

“NTA. Sweetie, you need to dump this loser. He’ll bleed you dry and make you feel guilty while doing it,” one user commented.
“This guy is a manipulative AH. Red flags everywhere. You’re my hero for walking out—had you stayed, he would’ve gaslit you into paying,” another added.
What do you think—was she right to walk away?
