If you use an air fryer or toaster oven, here's something you should know — and act on — right away.
These appliances should be unplugged before you go to sleep.
Why? Because they pose a potential fire hazard, even when not in use.
Air fryers and toaster ovens can overheat or experience electrical malfunctions due to faulty wiring or low-quality internal parts. In some cases, these components degrade over time, increasing the chance of a short circuit or even spontaneous ignition. Keeping them plugged in overnight — especially if the power outlet is old or vulnerable to surges — only raises the risk.
⚠️ Other appliances to watch out for include:
- Electric kettles
- Coffee makers
- Older microwaves
While all of these carry some risk, air fryers and toaster ovens have been under particular scrutiny recently due to a noticeable rise in reported incidents.
Stay safe: Unplug them before bed.
