The moment in question occurred as the French presidential plane landed in Hanoi. When the aircraft doors opened, Brigitte Macron was seen playfully pushing President Macron in the face—a moment caught on camera and quickly shared across social media platforms. The lighthearted exchange was later described by the French President’s office as a joke.
Despite the French government downplaying the interaction, the viral video sparked widespread interest, eventually prompting a question for President Trump during the press conference. When asked if he had any marriage advice for the Macrons, Trump replied:
“Make sure the door remains closed. That was not good.”
The off-the-cuff remark drew laughter from the press in attendance.
After the chuckles died down, Trump offered a brief update, saying he had spoken with Macron and assured everyone the couple was doing well.
“They’re two really good people,” he said. “I don’t know exactly what happened, but they’re okay.”
Reactions online mirrored the amused response in the room. One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “That is hilarious, but good advice. Keep the door closed.” Another added, “That was the best response,” while someone else chimed in, “I don’t care who ya are… that’s funny!!!”
As Macron exited the plane following the incident, he appeared composed, even offering his arm to Brigitte, who instead opted to hold the railing for support. While the French President has reiterated that the interaction was all in good humor, the moment continues to spark conversation globally.
Trump’s humorous take added to the buzz but didn’t appear to stir any hard feelings between the two leaders. What’s your take on his comments? Share your thoughts with us on Facebook.
