Pressure Mounts to Strip Harry And Meghan of Royal Titles Following Explosive Interview

Prince Harry has lost his legal bid in the UK Court of Appeal to reinstate his police protection while in Britain. He has previously cited safety concerns as the reason his wife Meghan and their children have not visited the UK, saying that the lack of protection makes such trips unsafe.

Following the ruling, Prince Harry gave an interview to the BBC where he reportedly expressed frustration over the situation. According to the Daily Mail, he claimed his father, King Charles, is not speaking to him and alleged that he was the victim of what he described as an “Establishment stitch-up.”

Harry also accused the Royal Household of interfering in the case and said he was surprised to learn that two senior royal officials sit on the committee responsible for reviewing security arrangements. He has since requested that the Home Secretary investigate any influence exerted by the Royal Family and the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) on the case’s outcome.

A spokesperson for the government told The Mail on Sunday: “All members work together to advise the independent chair on the protective security of the Royal Family and key public figures. As part of long-standing arrangements, these decisions are made by Ravec, not the Home Secretary.”

The Duke’s claims have sparked backlash, with some members of the public and commentators calling on King Charles to strip Harry and Meghan of their royal titles. Palace insiders also expressed concern about Harry’s comments regarding the King's health, reportedly viewing them as exacerbating tensions within the family.

Royal sources criticized the BBC for not challenging some of Prince Harry’s more serious allegations during the interview. In response, the BBC acknowledged a lapse in editorial standards. In a statement, the broadcaster said: “Claims were repeated that the process had been ‘an Establishment stitch-up,’ and we failed to properly challenge this and other allegations. This case is ultimately the responsibility of the Home Office, and we should have reflected their statement.”

A poll conducted by The Mail on Sunday indicated that public opinion currently leans in favor of King Charles over Prince Harry.

Among those voicing criticism was broadcaster Piers Morgan, who posted on X (formerly Twitter): “The King must strip Harry and Meghan of their titles asap. They are never going to stop attacking him, the Monarchy, and the Royal Family—all while simultaneously enriching themselves from their royal status.”

Morgan continued: “He trashed his family as Prince Philip was dying, as The Queen was dying, and now again as his father and sister-in-law battle cancer. Is there a more contemptible public figure in the world than Prince Harry?”
