Buckingham Palace has announced the arrival of Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi’s second child, a baby girl named Athena.
Born a few weeks early at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, baby Athena weighed 4lb 5oz at birth. Both mother and daughter are now home and recovering well.
In a statement, the Palace shared, “Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Princess Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi are already parents to three-year-old Sienna, and Edoardo has an eight-year-old son, Wolfie, from a previous relationship. The couple shared a heartwarming photo of their newborn daughter and extended their gratitude to the hospital staff for their exceptional care.
The birth came as a surprise to many, as Princess Beatrice was originally expected to give birth in early spring. After announcing the pregnancy in October, she was advised by doctors in December to avoid long-distance travel. As a result, she stayed in the UK for the holidays and joined the royal family for Christmas Day services in Sandringham.

Mr. Mapelli Mozzi expressed his joy on Instagram, posting a photo of Athena wrapped in a pink blanket and writing, “We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect. We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her. Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.”
Princess Eugenie, the proud aunt, also celebrated the birth by reposting the image and captioning it simply, “Welcome Baby Girl.”
