Some couples just have an instinct that they're destined to be together, while others believe it’s pure fate that brought them together. Then there’s Ed and Heidi Savitt, whose love story is both extraordinary and heartwarming.
The two first crossed paths in 2011 when they were students at Newcastle University in the UK. Ed had recently moved into a house that Heidi had once lived in, and one day, he found himself needing help with the dryer. He texted Heidi for assistance, and from that moment on, they became inseparable. That simple text sparked a relationship that would eventually lead to their wedding.
In 2017, at the age of 26, Ed and Heidi tied the knot. But little did they know, their story had started much earlier than they thought.

When Heidi's mother, Kay Parker, met Ed for the first time, she couldn’t shake the feeling that he seemed oddly familiar. There was something about him that tugged at her memory, though she couldn’t quite figure out what it was. Determined to make sense of her intuition, she decided to dig deeper.
During a dinner party where both Ed’s mother, Fiona, and Kay were present, Kay mentioned a family sailing trip to Turkey from years ago, when Heidi was just six years old. On that holiday, Heidi had a sweet childhood "boyfriend," coincidentally also named Ed. Kay recalled how the two children played together and held hands during the entire two-week vacation.

Fiona found the story amusing and even jokingly dropped her wineglass upon hearing that the little boy's name was Ed, but didn’t think much more of it. However, Kay’s curiosity only grew. Once home, she began searching through old photographs stored in the attic, looking for pictures from that trip.
To her amazement, she found exactly what she was looking for—a photo of Heidi as a child, holding hands with a boy named Ed from 20 years ago. When she showed the picture to Heidi, the memory of her childhood romance came rushing back. Standing next to six-year-old Heidi was a little boy with a distinctive, albeit outdated, bowl haircut. And that boy was unmistakably Ed Savitt.

“I was screaming,” Heidi later recalled. “It was just unreal. It’s crazy to think we could have married and spent our lives together without ever realizing this.”
Kay showed the photograph to Fiona, who was equally stunned. “Oh my goodness, that’s Ed!” she exclaimed.

For Heidi, who had never really believed in fate, this discovery changed everything. Now, she’s convinced that fate must have brought them back together after all those years.
Kay believes that deep down, when Ed and Heidi met again in college, some part of them recognized the bond they had shared as children. Heidi agrees, saying she knew from the moment she met Ed that he was the one.
