Actor John Schneider likened Beyoncé to a dog marking its territory during a discussion about her venture into country music on the conservative cable news channel One America News Network earlier this week.
The star of "Dukes of Hazzard" harshly criticized the 32-time Grammy winner while conversing with OANN host Alison Steinberg about Beyoncé's fans' efforts to have one of her new songs, "Texas Hold ’Em," played on a country music radio station in Oklahoma.
Discussing the evolution of country music over the years, Steinberg mentioned the influence of crossover acts like Shania Twain and Carrie Underwood, prompting a discussion about the backlash faced by KYKC 100.1 FM for not playing Beyoncé’s new song.
Steinberg remarked on the left-leaning influence in the entertainment industry, suggesting they infiltrate every domain. Schneider responded with a smirk, comparing their actions to dogs marking territory at a park.
Schneider elaborated on his point, distinguishing between artists like Shania Twain who transitioned from country to other genres and newcomers to country music like Beyoncé, whom he feels underestimate the genre's complexity.
Although Schneider, who has explored country music since his television days and appeared on "The Masked Singer" last year, made it clear he's not a fan of Beyoncé, her new songs have garnered attention.
"Texas Hold ’Em," released alongside another track titled "16 Carriages" last weekend, secured a place on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart last week, marking Beyoncé’s debut on the country charts.
