Nicky Maher, a mother from Somerset, Massachusetts, secretly filmed her daughter's babysitter, and the video has gained attention for all the right reasons.
Delaney Wilson, an 18-year-old who takes care of Maher’s child during work hours, is a talented young woman with a captivating voice. Despite her singing talent, she lacks confidence and is hesitant to share her gift with others.
Upon entering the room, Maher was immediately captivated by Wilson's enchanting rendition of Disney’s song "Part of Your World" from The Little Mermaid. She felt compelled to record this beautiful moment.
At the start of the video, Maher whispered, “this is our babysitter.” As she quietly enters the room, Wilson, unaware of being filmed, begins to sing passionately. Her voice grows stronger and deeper, leaving Maher overwhelmed with emotion.
Maher told Fox News that she was already aware of Wilson's singing talent before capturing it on video.
“I wanted her to hear herself when she thinks nobody’s watching. I was blown away and cried the first time I heard her sing. So, I told Delaney, you have such an incredible gift,” Maher said. When Maher asked why Wilson didn’t sing more often or in front of others, Wilson replied, “I just overthink it and never feel like I sound good enough, and I don’t always feel confident in the way I look.” Maher added, “And it just broke my heart.”
Maher asked Wilson for permission to share the video on TikTok, and Wilson agreed. Shortly after posting, the video went viral, attracting a large audience.
“It’s not that she didn’t know she had a talent that so many people had already acknowledged,” Maher said. “It’s that she didn’t hear it without knowing she was being judged or watched.
