Bruce Willis’ Family Worry About Decreased Appetite And Weight Loss – This ‘Could Be His Last Birthday’

When Bruce Willis stepped back from public life, his fans were left wondering about the reasons for his sudden absence. His family soon clarified, revealing that the actor had been diagnosed with a more specific condition: frontotemporal dementia.

Rumer Willis, his daughter, shared on social media, “We’re deeply grateful for the overwhelming love, support, and heartwarming stories we’ve received since we first shared Bruce’s initial diagnosis.”

She continued, “In light of this, we wanted to provide an update on our cherished husband, father, and friend, as we now have a clearer understanding of his condition.”

“Following our announcement of Bruce’s aphasia diagnosis in spring 2022, his condition has evolved, leading to a more specific diagnosis: frontotemporal dementia (FTD).”

Emma, his wife and caregiver, regularly updates fans on Bruce’s condition, raising concerns as his health appears to worsen.

“Living with dementia is challenging. It affects not only the person diagnosed but also the entire family. This holds true for Bruce, myself, and our daughters. Dementia truly is a family affair,” Emma shared during an interview on the Today show for World Frontotemporal Dementia Awareness Week.

On March 19, Bruce celebrated his 69th birthday.

However, his family is increasingly concerned about his weight loss and diminished appetite, reflecting his deteriorating health.

A source told In Touch, “He rarely feels hungry,” pointing to his weight loss and decreased appetite as worrisome indicators of his declining health.

Family members emphasize the difficulty in ensuring Bruce eats adequately and maintains a nutritious diet. The source added, “This situation is sadly familiar to anyone caring for a family member with dementia or Alzheimer’s.”

The source further revealed, “His ability to communicate has diminished, and he struggles to recognize people, impacting his sharpness.”

Glenn Gordon, Willis’ co-star in Sixth Sense, spoke about Bruce’s declining health. “His speech is impaired; once an avid reader – a fact he kept private – he no longer reads.” Visiting Bruce monthly, Gordon added, “His linguistic abilities have vanished.”

Addressing misconceptions about dementia, Emma posted on Instagram, “Both grief and profound love can coexist. Sadness and deep connections can too. Trauma and resilience can both exist.”

She clarified, “While there is grief and sorrow, a new chapter begins filled with love, connection, joy, and happiness. I urge society and those sensationalizing these stories to refrain from instilling unnecessary fear. A diagnosis of a neurocognitive disease isn’t the end.”

A family insider shared, “We remain optimistic about Bruce’s future, hoping for a stable phase or, if fate permits, signs of improvement.”

The family prioritizes spending quality time with Bruce, including his ex-wife Demi Moore and their daughters.

“They’ve noticed his comfort in family’s presence, focusing on surrounding him with love and happiness, regardless of the time he has left.”

We sincerely hope for Bruce Willis’s health to improve.
