Parents Shocked To See A Big Smile On Their Newborn Child

Witnessing our baby's first smile is an unforgettable moment that warms our hearts forever.

Ayla Summer Mucha is not your typical baby. She smiled immediately after birth, astonishing her parents with her radiant grin.

Doctors noticed this unusual behavior and realized something wasn't quite right. Ayla's constant smile, a unique condition, quickly made her a sensation on social media, captivating people worldwide.

Cristina Vercher and Blaize Mucha of Australia joyfully welcomed their daughter on December 30, 2021, via C-section. The doctors had significant news to share about their newborn.

Their daughter, Ayla Summer Mucha, was born with bilateral macrostomia, a condition where her mouth did not form properly.

This facial cleft is a rare deformity in which the corners of the mouth fail to fuse during pregnancy. Medical literature has documented only 14 cases of this condition.

The parents were surprised by the large mouth opening, as it wasn't visible on the ultrasounds. Adelaide's Vercher, the 23-year-old mother, recalled their immediate concern upon seeing her small size, which revealed the condition.

“We had never heard of this condition before, nor had I ever met someone born with macrostomia,” said Vercher. “So, it was a huge shock.”

The doctors were also surprised by the condition. The mother shared, “The experience was even more distressing because it took hours for a doctor to give us an answer. This added to the challenges as the hospital had limited knowledge or support for such a rare condition. As a mother, all I could think was where I went wrong.”

Fortunately, doctors reassured her that there was no other course of action she could have taken. Despite feeling regretful, she learned from medical professionals that the outcome would have been the same regardless of what she did.

The parents' primary concern was helping their baby cope with the condition, which affected her ability to latch on and nurse. Surgery was advised by the doctors.

As the parents explored treatment options, some negative comments surfaced from online trolls regarding the photos they shared. However, many came to their defense, praising the baby's beauty.

Now two years old, it appears that Ayla might have undergone a procedure to address the issue.
